PERSONAL ASSESSMENT:
Monthly Worksheet
Faith
1. How committed do you feel to your faith right now?
2. How involved are you in your faith/church right now?
Church/Volunteering
3. When was the last time you attended church? Have there been any times recently where you didn’t want to go to church? Why? What kinds of things would make you more excited to go to church?
4. When was the last time you volunteered to help at your church? When was the last time you helped other Christians in general? (we are called to help each other, even if it’s just encouraging each other)
5. Are there any ways in which you feel particularly called to volunteer – anything that really moves your heart, or any gifts you have that you like to offer? Are there any ways in which you feel like God may be calling you to volunteer that you’re not as excited about? What makes you not as excited about these things? What would make you feel better about these things?
Faith Journey/current Challenges
6. In what areas do you feel like God is working in your life this month?
7. What is challenging you in your walk with God? What are some things you’ve been learning recently (in your walk with God)? Has it been easy or hard for you? In what areas or ways do you feel like you’re growing?
Big Picture Faith picture and growth
8. What are some areas you struggle with in your faith in general? Are there certain key questions or issues that bother you?
9. What is your plan for helping resolve these questions or issues? Does it seem to be working? How is your progress, and what have you done to resolve them?
10. Have you talked about these issues with another Christian? Perhaps they can help give you ideas or a new perspective, or pray for you (or pray with you) to help resolve them. If you don’t feel comfortable talking to a Christian in your life, please check out the many anonymous prayer sites on the Internet. Someone will be praying for you. If you got a new perspective, write that here:
11. What directions/trends do you see in your life (look at the large scale picture here – this may be several months worth)?. Do you see any repeating patterns? Particularly address how you react to any recurring problems, or any strategies you use. If you’d like to make any modifications, do so here: (remember, God can turn any problem around! Nothing is beyond God. Changes start small, but if you continue to build on them, they will work in the long term. It just takes time.)
12. In what ways would you like to grow as a Christian? What do you think would make you a better Christian or better human being? What would change about you? What would the changed You be able to do that you don’t do now?
13. In what ways have others told you that you need to grow as a Christian? Sometimes we can’t see our own flaws. Commit to examining what was said, finding the “seed of goodness” (what is the ultimate intention – how will this make you a better person), and work on moving in that direction. Truthfully examine what the other person said, and opening yourself in prayer to God, be humble enough to realize that they may be right. This may not happen the first time you pray, but make it your goal to be open-minded, and willing to change. None of us are perfect, and all of us are working towards growing to be like Christ.
14. Pick one of the above (either something you identified, or something others identified, that will help you grow as a Christian) and make that your goal throughout the week: (write it on your Weekly Worksheet, and try to keep it in mind daily)
Time
15. What have you spent most of your time on recently? Is it what you want to be spending time on/will it lead to your goals being completed eventually?
16. Have you found time for a regular devotional? How is that going?
Open-Mindedness/Willingness to be Changed
17. How willing are you to be taught be someone who you feel doesn’t know as much as you do? How often do you assume you know more than other people? Even in simple situations like construction projects, Christians often feel the need to assert their expertise, to place themselves over others. Remember, learning often occurs in ways and times you don’t expect! Vow to be open this month, and remember that the person you’re talking to may know more than you do. Be committed to listening.
18. Look at last month. Any last thoughts on things you’d like to change or be different this month? Don’t be too hard on yourself, but do remember that our tendency is to continue like we’ve done. If you don’t vow to be different, and take concrete steps to do so, it will look the same. Take a minute now to reflect on last month, and how you’d like this month to be different:
19. Take a minute to run all this past God, and get His thoughts, and ask Him to help you this coming month. You may write your prayer here if you’d like:
