This question sheet is also available as a pdf here.
As Christians, we're constantly striving to make ourselves better people, more like Christ, more loving to our neighbors. We're constantly trying to find out more of who God is and incorporate Him into our daily lives.
I've made up a few worksheets that I personally use to track my growth. It helps me stay on track, plan out what I want for my life, see where I'm improving, and where I still need work. I've found them helpful, and I hope you do too. It's good to take assessment of where you are every so often to see if you're on track for achieving your goals in life.
Personal Assessment Master Worksheet
1. How often do you go to church or meet with other Christians on a regular basis?
Interacting with other Christians
2. How often do you encourage other Christians? Pray for them? Volunteer to help them? Support them (and I'm not just talking monetarily, though that certainly is one option)?
3. How often do you disciple (or teach) another Christian? How often are you discipled (or taught one-on-one) by another Christian?
4. Do you volunteer within the church, or commit your time or resources or talents in some way to furthering the Kingdom of God here on Earth? If not, think about how you might do that this year.
Bible Reading
1. How many times have you read through the entire Bible? Are there any books you haven't read, or books you've started but never finished, or books you don't really remember? Are there any books you don't really feel like you understand what God is saying there, or why it's in the Bible? Let's commit to puzzling through them this year.
2. How often do you read the Bible on a weekly/monthly basis?
3. When was the last time you read your Bible? Bible reading is important because it brings us God's truth. Listening in church is no substitute for reading the Bible yourself. Please see this post if you're having trouble getting something out of the Bible when you read it.
Prayer
1. How often do you pray?
2. When was the last time?
3. Do you feel like you have a rich prayer life, or get a lot out of it when you pray? What do you think would help?
4. Do you feel like God is actively present in your life? How often do you connect with Him and just talk? How often do you seek His advice on important decisions?
5. Do you meditate? Do you reflect on God's word? What parts of life make you feel the most peaceful? How are those connected with God?
Testifying/Talking about Jesus
1. How often in your life have you shared what Jesus has done for you?
2. How often is mention of Jesus or God part of your conversation?
3. If you feel uncomfortable or afraid to talk about Christ, look inside yourself and try to identify what thoughts or assumptions are making you feel that way.
4. What does following Christ mean to you? What would you tell a non-Christian who asked why it was so great to be a Christian?
Loving our Neighbors
1. How often do you help people outside of your immediate friends/family (i.e. strangers)? (cf. Luke 6:33)
2. When was the last time?
3. Are there any types of people or neighbors you’ve had who you have a hard time loving? Why?
4. What qualities would you need to acquire or strengthen in order to love those people?
5. Pray now to God that He will help you develop those qualities.
Your Life and Goals
1. Are you where you want to be in life? Why or why not?
2. We must be careful that being Christian is not another name for pursuing the American Dream, or middle class wealth/home/cars and "keeping up with the Joneses". There are many different types of authentic Christians who do not look like that. Taking an honest look at your life, what do you think God wants for your life? How do you think God envisions using your life? Is it what you envisioned in Question 1? Why or why not?
